The New Year is here, which means it’s almost time to wave goodbye to the kitchen trends that ruled in 2015, and welcome in the new and revitalised looks that will soon take their crown. While all home refurbishing trends come and go, as the kitchen is arguably the heart of the home it is important to get an idea of what other people are doing in case you ever decide to sell.

Before all that though, our top tip when refreshing your kitchen is to only adopt trends that you are actually passionate about or you risk ending up with a kitchen that not only do you not like, but is out of fashion too. Put your own spin on these in-style looks to ensure your kitchen offers long lasting appeal and will serve you well for years to come.

As you’ll see below, many of the styles that rose to prominence in 2015 have shown little signs of going away, but there are plenty of new and exciting ideas that we can wait for!

1. White, Grey and Neutral Kitchen Doors

This trend is 100% here for the long haul. High Gloss White kitchen doors especially have almost become a byword for contemporary kitchen doors, while grey kitchen cabinets have just gone from strength to strength in 2015. It’s also easy to see why more and more homeowners are opting for the neutral colours and earthly tones that work seamlessly with a number of different options. These colours give the room not just a sense of warmth, but give you the design freedom to add bolder colours elsewhere.

2. Contemporary Country

3. Heavy Metal

Over the past few years metals and metallic colours have soared in popularity thanks in part to them beautifully complementing shabby-chic design. We envisage heavier, warmer metals such as brass, gold and copper to outshine the cooler metals such as stainless steel and silver due to the cultured warmness they bring to the room. Some of the ways we like to incorporate these styles are through drop down lighting and stylish taps.

4. Defined Textures

Textures really help to add a personal touch to your kitchen as there are near-limitless possibilities and so many places you can put them. Adding textures to a minimalist white kitchen helps to give the room depth and interest. Incorporating a textured splashback is an easy and increasingly popular way of working the terrific trend into your home.

5. New Age Worktops

Here at Kitchen Door Workshop, few things infuriate us more than seeing gorgeous kitchen doors and attractive kitchens being brought down by old and unfashionable worktops. It’s amazing how a mismatched or run-down worktop can completely ruin the aesthetics of your kitchen. Thankfully, there are plenty of options out there.
