July 31st 2015 by .

When it comes to kitchen design, white kitchen doors have long been at the forefront of cutting edge style. They have been popular for decades and in this age of contemporary high gloss slabs, white kitchen cabinets’ immense popularity shows no signs of decline. But with so many styles to choose from, choosing a colour is only half the battle. There is a vast array of options out there from elaborate to simple kitchen cabinets and in this week’s blog post we will show you some of the most popular kitchen door styles for a stylish white kitchen.

Flat Slabs

The ultimate in minimalist style, flat kitchen doors are perfect for a contemporary kitchen. Simple yet stylish, the smart, clean lines look fantastic in a modern kitchen. To avoid a stark, almost dentists feel, some dark contrast is essential in a high gloss white kitchen, so consider adding a dark grey floor or black worktop in order to achieve the best results.

The Shaker is the pinnacle of kitchen design, and while you may be used to seeing it in creams and ivories, you will not be surprised to hear that it looks great in white too. A soft, matte white such as Silk White makes for a wonderfully traditional Shaker kitchen door. Combine with wooden worktops and flooring for an elegant kitchen that will remain stylish for many years to come.

High gloss kitchen doors are the pinnacle of contemporary kitchen style. They have been for a number of years and their massive popularity shows no signs of diminishing. High gloss kitchen doors are some of the most aesthetically pleasing products on the market, with their mirror-like shine reflecting all kinds of natural light, and their sharp, clean edges giving them a cutting edge design. In today’s blog post, we look at 3 of the biggest reasons why we love high gloss kitchen doors.

High Gloss Kitchen Doors Look Fantastic

When designing any aspect of a kitchen, while things like price and practicality are important, looks always come first. Gloss kitchen doors are second to none in the design department, and these days there are so many colours to choose from – you can tailor it to your perfect kitchen. From classic yet stylish blacks and white gloss kitchen doors, to bolder shades such as a red gloss kitchen or a bold purple, there are so many shades to choose from – there will definitely be one to suit your kitchen. Initially, high gloss kitchen cabinets were reserved for plain slab doors, but as technology advanced, manufacturers were able to make high gloss kitchen doors with all sorts of designs, further expanding the possibilities for your home.

They’re Incredibly Practical

With their sleek, smart and simple slab design, gloss kitchen doors are wonderfully easy to clean and maintain, as well as being extremely durable. As the doors are generally flat, this makes cleaning them a breeze, unlike some of the more complex and traditional kitchen doors which can require hours getting into all the chamfering. Due to their smooth design and hard-wearing vinyl, high gloss doors will last for many years thanks to their superior durability, something we here at Kitchen Door Workshop will prove by offering a six year warranty on all Trends and Visions kitchen doors.

They Will Brighten Up Your Kitchen

The beauty of high gloss doors is that they’re capable of reflecting even the smallest amount of natural light. This not only brightens up your cooking space dramatically, but also has the added psychological bonus of making your kitchen seem much bigger, which is always nice. You don’t even need a more typically bright colour like white, all gloss kitchen doors have an almost perfect shine, be it a black, or even woodgrain shade.

High gloss kitchen cabinets are immensely popular in contemporary kitchens, and for good reason. They’re stylish, come in and range of colours, and are now just as affordable as other kitchen doors.

How Bedroom Doors Can Give You a Good Night’s Sleep

July 3rd 2015 by .

You’ve probably heard it all before, drink a glass of water, read a book, and don’t use your phone, just some of the common tips for getting a better night’s sleep. But you’ve probably never thought replacing your bedroom doors could give you a proper, well deserved rest. Well it can, and so can so much else. Believe it or not, the design of your bedroom really can help you get a decent night’s kip, and in this week’s blog post we look at some top sleep-inducing bedroom design tips from the position of the bed to the colour of your wardrobe doors.

Furniture Arrangements

Though we don’t often realise it, our surroundings can have a massive effect on us and our sleep. So when designing your bedroom, arrange it in a way that will comfort your body and relax your mind. In order to feel balanced and be centred on sleeping, place our bed against a wall and if possible, facing away from doors and windows. Using a sturdy headboard can help add a real sense of stability. On a more psychological level, creating symmetry through the use of paintings, pillows and decorative rugs will give your place of rest a calm, soothing feel.

Colour Smart

Not only is the colour scheme vital to the look of your bedroom, but it can have a massive effect on the feel. Cool colours such as light blues, greens and greys can actually help to reduce your heart rate and as such are perfect for promoting better sleep. Warm colours on the other hand can have the opposite effect and can in fact be detrimental to the amount of sleep you get. Use a combination of cool colours such as grey bedroom doors, white bedding and some light blue pillows. Here at the Kitchen Door Workshop, we feel our light grey bedroom door, as shown below, is a perfect example of this. Muted and pastel shades of blue and green are ideal throughout the room on walls, duvets, rugs and wall hangings.

Light Grey bedroom doors

Hit the lights

It sounds obvious, but a soothing room that helps you fall asleep faster should be dark, or at the very least use soft lighting. Light dimmers are a cheap and practical method of getting a better night’s sleep. Additionally, minimise the lighting coming from outside through the use of blackout liners on draperies to prevent light from disturbing your sleep.

Clean Sweep

A clean, tidy and uncluttered bedroom is a sure-fire way to improve your night’s sleep. Even if you can’t see it, you know all that clutter is still there, so don’t just push it under the bed, let the room breathe by giving it a comprehensive declutter. Open closets and overflowing bedroom drawers are a big no. So when designing your bedroom and choosing your wardrobe doors, consider smart storage solutions to help rid your home of clutter. It sounds borderline ridiculous, but a clean and tidy room will give you a better night’s sleep.

While the appearance of your bedroom will always be the prevailing factor, remember you’re going to have to sleep in that room for the foreseeable future, so consider these tips to ensure you always get a good night’s sleep.
